The Association of Independent Healthcare Organisations (AIHO)
is the trade association for independent healthcare providers across the United Kingdom.
AIHO represents over 250 hospitals that provide services to insured, self-paying and NHS-funded patients. AIHO members vary from large hospital groups to smaller, specialist providers of specific surgeries and treatments.
We strive to promote and protect the interests of the independent healthcare sector by providing a voice for the sector to stakeholders, media and government.
AIHO's key objective is to highlight the critical role that the independent healthcare sector plays in delivering the nation's health and inform the national debate about how to deliver the healthcare Britain deserves.
AIHO believes that independent healthcare and a system of care free at the point of need can co-exist well. In fact, that it is a relationship that is fundamental to the future of Britain’s healthcare and will benefit patients.
AIHO represents providers across the devolved nations and has a presence across the regions through the Scottish Independent Hospitals Association (SIHA), the Welsh Independent Healthcare Association (WIHA). AIHO also represents providers in Northern Ireland.
